Essential Qualification:

  • Candidates should have thorough knowledge of Hindi Devnagri script. If the candidate has not passed High School or equivalent examination in Hindi, he/she has to clear an exam conducted by the Registrar, Departmental Examination Govt. of UP within 3 years of joining.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/ Computer Science & Engineering/ Electronics/Tele Communication/Information Technology/Civil Engineering from an University OR from an Institute established under the law of Uttar Pradesh or from any other Institution recognized by State Government or a degree or diploma recognized as equivalent thereto by the State Government or Part-A & B examinations conducted by the Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) General and OBC candidates having minimum 60% marks in aggregate, belonging to SC/ST category with minimum 55% aggregate marks in engineering degree shall only be eligible to apply for these posts. Candidates having degree through distance education programme are not eligible to apply. Handicapped (OA / OL) candidates may apply for the posts only if they are affected with above disability by at least 40% or above.

Age Limit:

Minimum 21 years and maximum 35 years as on 01-01-2011.

Application Fee:

  • Processing fee of Rs. 1000/- only for candidates belonging to OBC/General category and Rs. 700/- only for candidates belonging to SC/ST (domicile of U.P.) category shall be payable through a crossed demand draft of SBI in favour of 'SECRETARY, ELECTRICITY SERVICE COMMISSION, LUCKNOW' payable at Lucknow.   • Candidates should take special care not to staple the demand draft. They should use steel pins for fastening all documents/demand drafts.

Research Associates selected under the prestigious KSKRA programme are given an opportunity to work on R&D programmes of national importance relevant to the DAE mandate in one of the following advanced research centres of the Department:

  • Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai.

  • Minimum Educational Qualification and Experience:
    i) For Engineers: Ph.D. degree in Engineering (Those who have submitted thesis for Ph.D. may also apply) or Master's degree in Engineering (M.Tech./ M.E./M.S.) with a minimum of 2-year R&D experience after obtaining M.Tech./M.E./M.S. degree.
    ii) For Scientists: Ph.D. degree in Science (Those who have submitted Ph.D. thesis may also apply).
  • All candidates must have a First Class at either Masters or Bachelors level.
  • All candidates must provide a list of publications in support of their R&D experience.
  • Nationality/Age: Indian nationals who are not more than 32 years as on 1st January in the year of the application. The age criterion is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates. The SC/ ST/ OBC certificate should be as per the prescribed format. Physically challenge persons are eligible for age relaxation of 5 years.

Applications are invited from highly motivated students to pursue doctoral research in the broad areas of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Solar Physics, Planetary Sciences, Geosciences, Space and Atmospheric Sciences, Experimental Laser & Atomic Physics and Theoretical Physics. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Qualification: M.Sc. in one of the following subjects: Physics, Space Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry (Physical, Nuclear / Analytical), Geology, Geophysics and Ocean Sciences.
    A minimum of 60% marks at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels are required for all candidates. Candidate must have Physics and Mathematics as the subjects at the Under Graduate level.
  • Age Limit: Not more than 25 years as on 31st December 2010 (born on or after 31.12.1985).

Stipend & Facilities:

Rs. 16,000/- per month, raised to Rs. 18,000/- per month after two years, subject to satisfactory academic review; a book grant of Rs. 7500/- per year; and accommodation and medical facility at a nominal charge. Students may also be supported for attending conferences abroad, once during their tenure. In addition, all expenses connected with registration for Ph.D., tuition fees, etc. will be borne by PRL.
