Education Qualifications

For Aeronautical Engineers (Electronics):

BE / B.Tech in Electronics / Telecommunication / Electrical / Electrical Communication / Electronics & Communication / Instrumentation / Information Technology / Computer Science & Engineering or a combination of these subjects. OR

Diploma in Electronics of Madras Institute of Technology. OR

B Tech in Radio Physics and Electronics/ Optics and Opto Electronics. OR

MSc. Degree in Physics (With Electronics) / Electronics / Computer Science / Computer Application / MCA with Maths, Physics and Electronics at graduation level or MSc. Tech in Electronics and Radio Engineering. OR

Section A&B Examination of the Associate Membership Examination of the Institute of Engineers (India) in Electricals, Electronics or Telecommunication subjects.


Graduate Membership Examination of the Institute of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineers with subjects of Section A & full subjects of section B by actual studies (Maths, Applied Electronics and Circuits. Principles of Communication Engineering Transmission lines and Networks.

Standard: First Division (60% & above)

Age: For AES & SSC born between 02 Jan 1981 and 01 Jan 1991

For Aeronautical Engineers (Mechanical):

BE / B.Tech in Aeronautical / Mechanical / Production / Industrial Production or a combination of these subjects. Section A & B of Examination of Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies in Avionics / Communication streams.


Section A and B of Associate Membership Examination of Institution of Engineering (India) with Mechanical / Aeronautical subjects by actual studies.


Section A and B of Associate Membership Examination of the Aeronautical Society of India with Group I (Design and Production) or Group II (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) subjects by actual studies.

Standard: First Division (60% & above)

Age: For UES born between 02 July 1981 and 01 July 1991

1. Should be an INDIAN CITIZEN.

2. The candidature for the course will be valid only if you secure first division with an aggregate of 60% in your Degree and submit the Provisional Certificate by 15 DEC 2008 to Air Headquarters. For UES 2009 -UNIVERSITY ENTRY BONANZA SCHEME, Provisional Certificate is to be deposited by 15 JUN 2009. Candidates who are currently in the third year of their BE / B.Tech only need to apply for the UES 2009 Entry. Candidates should not have any backlog while reporting for EKT / AFSB Testing (Securing First Division is the minimum requirement Candidates, who are high on merit, would be given preference in the selection Procedure).

3. Candidates scheduled to appear in final semester examination or have qualified for BE/B.Tech are not eligible to apply for UES 2009.

4. Should be unmarried, if you are less than 25 years of age as on 01 JAN 2009 (01 JUL2009 for UES 2009 Entry). (Term unmarried excludes widower and divorcee even though without encumbrances). Marriage is not permitted during training.

5. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply. But during training period neither will you be provided married accommodation nor can you live-out with family.

6. Should have minimum height 157.5 cms for Men and 152 cms for Women with correlated weight.

7. We are looking for the best talent. Selection would be based on demonstrated performance.

8. Airmen and other Government Employees are to apply through Proper Channel.

1. Scrutiny of the Applications.

2. Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) at Centres allotted on 27 APR 08. Travel will be at your own cost. For the EKT, mobile phones are not permitted. Scientific calculator without flash / data storage facility is permitted.

3. Personality Tests for the qualifiers of EKT at Air Force Selection Boards at Dehradun, Mysore or Varanasi for five days.

4. Stage I test consisting of Intelligence test, Picture Perception and Discussion test on the first day. Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage I test will be routed back on the same day from AFSB. Stage II test consists of Psychological testing, Group testing and Interview.

5. Medical Examination at AFCME, New Delhi or IAM, Bangalore for those who qualify AFSB testing.

6. Finalisation of Merit List based on performance during the AFSB test.

7. Issue of Joining Instructions to selected Candidates as per the order of merit and vacancy available.
